From Jason:Sean and I first met Paul Coughlin at Vero Beach Sporting clays in 2023. Immediately, we could tell that Paul has a passion for both Sporting Clays and making really good bourbon! This was right up our alley! Once we tried some of the offerings from Taconic, we knew that this was a great fit for the podcast! Paul also enjoyed the podcast and wanted to support us, which we were humbled by. We spent time looking into Paul and thus Taconic’s history, and knew that this was the start of a great friendship! We hope that you will give one of the many offerings from Taconic a try, and you will quickly understand the passion the company has for their spirits!….as long as you are over 21!
From Taconic:
Paul Coughlin had a long successful career on Wall Street and ran a private equity business, but after more than 30 years in the game, he was thirsty for something else. Literally.
In 2013, he launched Taconic Distillery on the grounds of his Rolling Hills Farm in Stanfordville, N.Y., and has been making bourbon, rye, and maple syrup there ever since.
“In the last six years I went from driving a BMW M5 to a Massey Ferguson tractor and from wearing Brooks Brothers to Carhartt,” Coughlin says. “I wouldn't change a thing.”
Working with the Dead Pair podcast was a natural fit with another passion of mine: the outdoors. This distillery sits on 116 acres. We have a trout pond on the property and everyone here is an outdoorsman. The American ideals of freedom and independence are close to my heart and to what we’re doing here."
"Everything we do -- products and marketing — reinforces the brand. The brand image is based on an outdoor lifestyle, whether it is shooting, fishing, hunting, camping or hiking. The whole idea is to get outside and enjoy what we have."
